FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQ: FAQ

HOW DO I JOIN?

To join the group as a volunteer or member, send our recruiting executives an email at cmha@ualberta.ca. We look forward to meeting you!

HOW ARE YOU ASSOCIATED WITH THE CMHA EDMONTON?

We are a non-profit student group affiliated with the Edmonton CMHA. Our proceeds raised from events are donated to the CMHA Edmonton to continue to offer mental health resources and support through their many programs.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEING A MEMBER VS A VOLUNTEER?

Both our Members and Volunteers are crucial to operating the CMHA Student Group. Members take on a more prominent role in the group, including attending meetings, communicating with our executives, emailing sponsors, connecting with other student groups on campus, and organizing their events each semester! Members have a larger commitment to the group and must be more active in group events, whereas volunteers have more flexibility. Volunteers aren't involved in too much of the event planning, but they are included on our email list for when we need some extra help. A volunteer's main job is to help with on-campus events like bake sales, raffles, giveaways, and other tabling events.

DOES YOUR GROUP WORK WITH OTHER STUDENT GROUPS OR COMPANIES?

For many of our events, our group does work with other student groups on campus. We often work together to help promote each other's events on campus, as well as hosting events together. For more significant events, we do reach out to companies as well for sponsorship or donations. Some of the companies we have worked with in the past include: Pome Bakery, Moonshine Donuts, MyViva Fitness, Square One Coffee, UAlberta PINK, Central Social House, Boardwalk REIT, and many others.

DO YOU PROVIDE ANY MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES?

No, but you can follow some of the resources we have linked on our resource page. Unfortunately, none of our members are trained to offer advice or counsel. CMHA Edmonton offers many online and in-person resources.
